Assemblyman Bernie Anderson

Retired Educator
Assemblyman Anderson was first elected in 1990. He is
the Speaker Pro Tempore of the Assembly. During the last session, Assemblyman Anderson
was the Chair of the Judiciary Committee. Additionally, he served on the
Taxation Committee, the Commerce and Labor Committee, and the Corrections,
Parole and Probation Committee.
Assemblyman Anderson represents Assembly District 31
encompassing east Reno from Wells Ave. to McCarran (north of I-80)
and Sparks-- east of Pyramid to Vista and south of Queens Way.
Because of term limits, Assemblyman Anderson will be leaving
the Assembly at the end of this term. During his 19 years of service in the
legislature, Mr. Anderson fathered the Drug Court program in Nevada and worked on victim’s right
legislation in domestic battery. Mr. Anderson’s first bill in the
Assembly established a special license plate for Purple Heart recipients and
that was followed by plates for UNR and UNLV as well as Pyramid Lake and
the Reno Rodeo.

Assemblyman Anderson:
Assemblyman Anderson is a native Nevadan. He was born in
1942 in Reno, Nevada. Assemblyman Anderson is a graduate
of Bishop Manogue
High School and received his B.S. in
Education from the University of Nevada, Reno.
Assemblyman Anderson began his career in public service as a
member of the Army National Guard. Later, Assemblyman Anderson taught in the Washoe School District
for 33 years at both Wooster and Reid High
Schools.
Assemblyman Anderson and his wife Clyda and are the proud
parents of two children and two grandchildren. In his spare time, Assemblyman
Anderson likes to read.
