Assemblyman
Conklin was first elected in 2002. He serves as Assistant Majority Floor Leader.
He is was the Chair of the Commerce and Labor Committee during the 75th
legislative session. He also served on the Ways and Means Committee and
the Elections, Procedures, Ethics, and Constitutional Amendments Committee.
A
little more about Assemblyman Conklin:
Assemblyman Conklin was born in 1969 in Hanford,
California, growing up in that small California town. In
1992, he earned a B.A. from the University
of Redlands in Economics and Political
Science and in 1997, an M.A. in Political Science from Midwestern State
University. He is
currently pursuing an M.A. in Economics from the University
of Nevada, Las Vegas.
He is a founder of the Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth and the
Homeless Youth Foundation. He currently serves as chairman of both
organizations. He has also volunteered with the American Red Cross and United Way.
Assemblyman
Conklin chaired a critical subcommittee prior to the last session that
considered ways to reduce the number of foreclosures in our state to help
stabilize our housing market. That subcommittee recommended new laws requiring
new owners to clean up foreclosed properties and to help prevent foreclosure
fraud.
