horne_2007Assistant Majority Whip

Clark County

District # 34

Attorney

Assemblyman Horne was first elected in 2002. He is an Assistant Majority Whip. During the 75th legislative session he served as the Chair of the Corrections, Parole and Probation Committee.  He also served on the Judiciary Committee; the Commerce and Labor Committee and the Elections, Procedures, Ethics and Constitutional Amendments Committee.

Assemblyman Horne represents Assembly District 34 in northwestern Clark County. The district is a diverse area of Las Vegas which encompasses the Meadows Mall, Angel Park Golf Course and parts of Desert Shores.

As a father, William has always considered education a top priority. Through his work on the Judiciary and Corrections committees, he has also worked to improve public safety—particularly the protection of children.

A little more about Assemblyman Horne:

William was born in 1962 in Wichita Falls, Texas. As part of an Air Force family, Assemblyman Horne moved frequently as a child, but lived in Las Vegas through most of his schooling.

Mr. Horne finished his freshman year UNLV, then left school to work in the airline industry, and did so for the next 15 years, becoming a source of advice to his coworkers on contract and workers’ compensation issues.

He credits his mother as the inspiration to return to UNLV. William graduated with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. Assemblyman Horne attended the UNLV Boyd School of Law, volunteering as a student attorney for the Child Welfare Clinic. He graduated in 2001 with a Doctorate of Jurisprudence. After passing the bar, William decided to establish his own independent law firm rather than join the corporate establishment.

Assemblyman Horne is a devoted father to four children, Kayla, Chelsey, Henry, and Chloe. Despite his very busy schedule, William still has his priorities in order and makes time for family activities and helping with school work.
