Assemblywoman Ellen Koivisto

Assemblywoman
Koivisto was first elected in 1996. During the last legislative session, she
served as the Chair of the Elections, Procedures, and Ethics Committee and the
Vice-Chair of the Constitutional Amendments Committee. She also served on
the Taxation Committee and the Ways and Means Committee.
Assemblywoman
Koivisto represents Assembly District 14 located in eastern Clark County.
Because
of term limits, Assemblywoman Koivisto will be leaving the Assembly at the end
of this term. Her commitment and expertise on health care and elections and
ethics laws will be missed.

Assemblywoman
Koivisto was born in 1943 in Morris,
Minnesota. She moved to Nevada in 1982, first living in Henderson
and finally settling in Las Vegas
in 1992.
Assemblywoman
Koivisto has always been active in Democratic politics including serving as
Secretary/Treasurer and President of the Henderson Democratic Club.
Professionally,
Assemblywoman Koivisto worked as a program officer in the Office of the Provost
at UNLV for more than 15 years.
Assemblywoman
Koivisto is married to her husband Vic. The Assemblywoman has four children, 13
grandchildren and four great grandchildren. In her spare time she enjoys
quilting, sewing, reading and traveling.
