Assemblywoman Parnell was first elected in 1998 to serve Assembly District
40 and has served a total of five regular sessions. During the last legislative
session, Assemblywoman Parnell was the Chair of the Education Committee and
served on the Judiciary Committee; the Corrections, Parole and Probation
Committee and the Health and Human Services Committee.
Assemblywoman Parnell is a leader on education issues and is committed to
working to addressing the real problems of her constituents.

Assemblywoman Parnell is originally from Bakersfield,
California, but has lived in Carson City, Nevada
for more than 33 years.
Assemblywoman Parnell received her B.A. in History from Long Beach State
University and a Masters
Equivalency in Education from the same school. For 23 years, Assemblywoman
Parnell taught at both Fritsch Elementary School and Carson Middle School.Assemblywoman Parnell was honored as Nevada
State Teacher of the Year in 1998 and is a past president of the Nevada State
PTA.
Assemblywoman Parnell is the proud parent of two sons and has two
grandchildren. In her spare time, Assemblywoman Parnell enjoys visiting family
in Chicago and Phoenix, camping, reading and traveling.
