New Laws to Take Effect July 1
Assembly bills to help with foreclosure crisis and spur job creation through renewable energy
A host of new laws go into effect on July 1, including bills to require good faith mediation between lenders and borrowers in home foreclosures and providing incentives for renewable energy companies that provide jobs to Nevada workers.
Attached is a cross section of bills sponsored by Assembly Democratic legislators or Assembly committees that totally or partially go into effect on July 1 with the sponsor of the bill or a contact person who can provide more information. These bills include:
- Legislation to help reduce the number of people losing their homes through foreclosure and to crack down on foreclosure scams;
- Legislation passed as a result of last year’s Hepatitis C health care crisis to better protect patients;
- Financial incentives for renewable energy companies that provide good jobs for Nevada workers;
- Reforms to improve the way our state operates, including a forced savings account for our state and new accountability and transparency in the granting of tax exemptions and abatements;
- Quality of life measures, including authorization of a new Veteran’s Court and new protections for those donating food to nonprofit charitable organizations.
