Assemblyman James Ohrenschall

Assemblyman Ohrenschall was first elected in to the
Nevada State Assembly in November of 2006.
Assemblyman Ohrenschall represents Assembly District 12 in
eastern Las Vegas.
Assemblyman Ohrenschall is a native Las Vegan.
He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the University of Nevada Las Vegas and expects to receive his law degree from UNLV’s
William S. Boyd School of Law in December 2009.
Assemblyman Ohrenschall understands the challenges facing our community. He worked the night shift at UPS to help
pay his way through college. He learned first-hand
the importance of fair pay, honest benefits, and decent working conditions — measures
he continues to promote through his legislative work. While working for UPS and in the convention
industry, Assemblyman Ohrenschall became a member of Teamsters Local 631.

Some his proudest legislative accomplishments include his
bill expanding medical insurance coverage to Nevada’s autistic children; furthering
the goal of lowering pollution and lessening our dependence on foreign oil
through his legislation making it more cost effective to operate hybrid
automobiles; his work for enhanced protections for mobile home park tenants
from arbitrary and capricious evictions; and his efforts at criminal justice
reform.
In his spare time, Assemblyman Ohrenschall enjoys reading,
hiking, and music.
