ICYMI: Nevada GOP Candidates Pose Threat to Democracy

Las Vegas – The DLCC has released information identifying republican extremists who are actively threatening our democracy. Republicans in these districts have affiliated themselves with conspiracies tied to far right groups, spreading false accusations about the 2020 election, and attempting to decertify election results with phony electors. This poses a dangerous threat to democracy if they are voted into office.

The following candidates were included in the DLCC’s insurrectionist tracker from Nevada:

Jon Petrick AD-21

  • Described the insurrection as a “bunch of BS” and “a false narrative”
  • Falsely claimed on social media that the 2020 election was full of “irregularities” and that voter fraud occurred in almost every state
  • Shared a petition online to encourage decertification of 2020 election results

Jacob Deaville AD-37

  • Claimed Trump bears no responsibility for the violence on January 6th and that it was largely a “peaceful assembly” of Trump supporters
  • Falsely claimed that the 2020 election was decided by widespread tampering and fraud
  • Spread conspiracy theories from Project Veritas about voter fraud occurring in Nevada

Paul Bodine, AD-41

  • Claimed falsely on social media that there were irregularities in the 2020 election and spread conspiracy theories about voter fraud
  • Spread false information about January 6th on social media, including Rudy Guiliani’s claims that the rioters entered and left the capitol peacefully
  • Used Proud Boy symbols on his personal YouTube page, where he posted videos of Proud Boys disrupting a GOP county meeting.

Jenann Logan, AD-8

  • Promoted election conspiracy theories on social media

Ricci Rodriguez-Elkins, AD-30

  • Falsely claimed on social media that the 2020 election was stolen and has spread election conspiracy theories
  • Spread conspiracy theories about January 6th, including claims that BLM and Antifa were behind the insurrection
  • Falsely believes the 2020 election called into question the security of elections and has pledged to restrict voter access if elected

Cherlyn Arrington, SD-12

  • Bragged about being a “founding member” of the Oath Keepers, an anti-government militia group linked to armed standoffs with Nevada law enforcement and violent attacks on police officers.
  • Supports Donald Trump’s claims that the 2020 election was stolen and has filed legal complaints about losing her own local race for office by thousands of votes, a case that was dismissed by the court and withdrawn by her own attorney
